Do you provide transportation from my hotel, and how far are you from the major resorts?

We are happy to arrange convenient round-trip transportation for nearly all tours, though for some trips or specific resorts, a reasonable shuttle fee may apply. We offer easy pickups from local hotels and rentals, with minimal travel time from key locations. Do I need a driver’s license to operate an ATV, and is there a minimum age to drive?

Yes, all drivers of our ATV and UTV tours are required to have a valid driver’s license from their home country. Since we often traverse public roads and trails, this requirement is strictly enforced for your safety and legal compliance.
Minimum Driving Age: The minimum age to operate an ATV on our tours is 16 years old, provided the driver has a valid license.
Passenger Age: Guests under the age of 16 are welcome to ride as passengers but must be accompanied by a licensed adult driver.

Do I need a fishing license for my charter, and how do I get one?

Yes, all anglers over the age of 16 are required by Costa Rican law to carry a valid fishing license issued by INCOPESCA (the national fisheries institute) when fishing from a boat. The licenses are affordable, costing around USD 15 for an 8-day permit. While many clients purchase theirs online, your Captain or our office can easily assist you with obtaining this permit before your trip departs. When is the best time of year to visit Guanacaste and book tours?

Guanacaste is wonderful year-round, but your ideal time depends on your preference:
Dry Season (December – April): This is the peak season, offering clear, sunny skies and minimal rain, making it ideal for sunbathing and water activities like snorkeling and sunset cruises. Book tours well in advance during this time.
Green Season (May – November): Expect lush, vibrant landscapes and fewer crowds. Rain typically falls in short bursts in the late afternoon, leaving the mornings clear for all tours, including ATV adventures and fishing. This season often offers better rates. (Though keep in mind every rainy season is different, we may have full days of rain, and full days without, it’s not a predictable science).

What is the recommended currency for tours, and should I bring cash?

While most major tour operators, including us, accept credit cards for the main booking payment, we highly recommend bringing a small amount of U.S. dollars (USD) in small denominations (10s and 20s). Cash is essential for paying tips/gratuity to your Captain and guides, as well as for small purchases at local sodas or for beach parking fees if you are exploring on your own.
